Fish for Change Week at XFlats is a one-week, student-focused fly-fishing and service immersion in Xcalak that blends guided time on the flats with conservation, education, and cultural exchange to grow empathetic, confident young anglers and global citizens.

Fish for Change is a nonprofit that uses fly fishing to grow leaders through connection, culture, and conservation. Spend a week at The XFlats ,where days on the flats mix with hands-on citizen science on the fish you catch. Between tides, join language-immersion classes, learn traditional cooking, share dinners with your guides’ families, and even help the reef by spearfishing invasive lionfish.

4th annual community fundraising tournament supporting Xcalak-voted projects. Each year’s proceeds go directly toward improvements that enhance safety, access, and quality of life for locals and visitors alike. Proudly backed by some of the most respected brands in the industry, this event brings the fly-fishing community together for a cause that matters.

Now in its fourth year, The Mayan Permit tournament raises funds for community projects in Xcalak. Last year, 30 km of the exterior road into town were widened and cleaned, making travel significantly safer for locals and visitors alike. Each year, the town votes on a new project to receive the proceeds from the tournament.
This event is made possible with support from Howler Brothers, Bajío Sunglasses, Monster Energy, Fishpond, Mayfly, Abel Reels, Ross Reels, Airlite Rods, and Yellow Dog.

For the past five years, YDCCF has hosted free English camps in Xcalak, offering hospitality-focused training for adults and general English education for local youth.
